Yay Day Island Wall!!!

Post by Diver_C »

Fishstiq, Pez, Penopolypants, and myself hit Day Island Wall flood this morning, January 5th. Driving over the Day Island bridge, one could see double rainbows, and both ends of one, which was brightly colored on one end. We had a fun 65 minute dive!! Lots of wave action on the surface, but calm below it. Had some current going out to the wall, but none really to speak of once we got onto the Wall. Saw a couple octos (but too far in, and/or holes too small for good pics), and lots of wolfies. Oddily enough, not one red irish lord. (?!?!?) Good viz, and probably 46 or 47 degrees. What a great day - diving at DIW, and the Hawks dominating Washington!

Here are a few pics; the rest can be seen on my Flickr.

NICE pics!

Question for you...what time did you descend this morning? I have dove DIW 30-40 times, but always on a slack before ebb. Since that was before the sun came up this morning, I'm assuming you guys hit the slack before flood.

THANKS!

Thanks! It is nice when wolfies come out to say 'hi'!

We started descending from the swim platform at 9:30, 30 minutes before the predicted slack before the flood (predictor: Narrows, South end, mid-stream). That was actually about five to ten minutes sooner than I really wanted, but didn't realize the time until already dressed and in the water. It was no big deal.
