Resignation Letter - I quit!

To whom it may concern,

I hereby tender my resignation as your President of the Never-Seen-a-Lumpsucker Club. While I have enjoyed serving you over these past 8 years and almost 700 dives, (and commiserating with those of you who've also never seen a Pacific Spiny Lumpsucker ) the time has now come, effective last night in the eelgrass beds off Lopez Island, to step down from my post and join the masses who've personally witnessed this cute little swimming critter. Actually, not one, not two or even three, but FIVE of them.

I would also like to nominate Jan Kocian as the new acting president of the Never-Seen-a-Lumpsucker Club. I think he'd do a fine job of representing the dive community. Although I'm sure it won't be long before he quits too, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

My apologies to Greg Jensen, who has relentlessly been taunting me regarding my lack of lumpie sightings. However, I'm sure he'll find new material to fill the gap.

Okay . . . I'm throwing my hat in the ring as candidate for the next president of the never-saw-a-lumpsucker club. Bob saw three (or was it five) of them the other night at Redondo, and I didn't see a single one. Of course, I'm not sure I'd know one if it bit me (do they bite?)

I've seen my six gill. I'm well qualified to replace Janna, at almost 600 dives, one six gill, and no lumpsuckers.

Yes, five, but they were VERY small ones! The largest was the size of my thumbnail or about the size of a dime. The one we watched for ages and ages and took photos of swam around quite a bit from eelgrass blade to eelgrass blade. Quite amusing!

OH!! Hadn't thought of that! Hard to top the lumpsucker story. I just figure I'll ALWAYS be the pres of the Sixgill Club, but then again, that's what I thought about the Lumpsucker Club presidency too. I certainly didn't go looking for them and never dreamed I'd see them that night. It was a total surprise!

However, I'd be quite happy with ONE sixgill...I think SIX would be a bit unnerving!

Jan - I hate to rub it in, but I was told to let you know I found this little guy (about as big as your pinky fingernail) at Keystone last Sunday 8/24 on a piece of kelp at around 20'.

Today, I will also say goodbye to this well established and esteemed club. I found a Large Lumpsucker on Day Island Wall . Fishtiq and Spatman "may" have pictures worth posting . What made it even more exciting is that it was the LAST thing I expected to see. I had'nt thought about the PSL since this thread first started!
