Baby Sounder Dive Training

Things have been a bit "heavy" around the board lately, so I figured I'd bring you all up to speed on the little one to lighten things up a bit.

This morning Baby Sounder began his dive training. We started with a gear orientation and proper finning techniques...

Then we covered some basic marine life identification...

Next it was time for his first open water experience where he saw lots of cool things including a yellow fish and a blue octopus...

After his discovery of the blue octopus, Baby Sounder flooded his suit so we thumbed the dive and headed for the changing table.

He still has a lot to learn, but I'm confident Grateful Diver and BDub will rise to the occasion. His first PNW dive site orientation will be the morning of the 16th at Redondo.

That's awesome! It fits! Looks like I may have made the straps a little too short huh?

Aaah the beauty of the bp/w - we can easily replace the harness. \:D/ The plate is great bud - next up is a tank. My argon bottle is a bit large though, but I've got other ideas as I'm sure you do too.

I think I can obtain a Paintball CO2 tank that may fit. Otherwise it's time to shape some 2" pvc with the heatgun again... That may be better anyway from a weighting/trim standpoint. :fish:

Very true - trim could become a serious issue with an appropriately sized CO2 tank. I think the PVC is something to explore... I've even got a VIP tag for it.

Actually it's small enough, a 20oz bottle would probably work really well. Hmmmmm....

Never would I ever have admitted to wanting to play "dress up" and "make believe" as an adult... this parenting thing is weird stuff.

This was just an orientation to his bp/w in the dive simulator. Next we'll be adding a Liquivision X1 and a tank... baby steps, you know?

Could work, as could PVC pipe... and I bet we could fit two bottles of PVC pipe on him. :dontknow: \:D/

Don't you think we should get him used to singles before we jump in to doubles?

I think he should at least be potty trained...............you get a lot of bottom time out of those twins and I think he's a bit too small for a P-valve yet.......... :dontknow: :evil4:

The door was open - you got there before I could. Well played my friend. =D> :notworthy:
Nwbrewer wrote:Nah, he's just rocking it old school tech diver style with the huggies!
Yeah, he's definitely rocking it old-school for a while. The great part is, he's totally cool with the diaper thing! That way he's good for #1 AND #2 for those REALLY long training sessions. :toimonster:

A long day of rigorous training will really take it out of you...
Tired after a long day of training...

I'm thinking a can of Dust-Off (compressed air) and some aquarium tubing with a pacifier second stage would be just about perfect ...

Thanks for the offer, but I don't know that Mrs. Sounder would allow "an old hot tub" at the house. [-X

We'll start with confined water training in the master bathroom (very large tub) and then may graduate to the TSandM Aquatic Center (but L&P don't know that yet :evil4: ).
