This is exciting news. RBW needs a major shake-up. Curt Bowen knows how to shake things up.

Yeah....exciting stuff!

We're having a face-to-face meeting of the ADM staff at DEMA to discuss the whole thing. Chief amongst the topics discussed will be: "Now that we have it, WTF do we do with it?" ;)

Turn it into a porn site, duh. :toimonster:

You could use it to promote exploration of the underwater realm using closed-circuit mixed gas technology.

You could study accidents and try to research safety.

It's an incredible resource that isn't able to achieve it's potential right now- there are some seriously intelligent people on that forum, who build their own rebreathers for fun, when they're not engineering mag-lev train propulsion and studying the effect of sunspot activity on ultra-low frequency transmitters- stuff like that. The rebreather industry as a whole is on the verge of quantum leaps forward- god only knows what kind of cool stuff we could be playing with in 10 years. And ADM/ RBW will be on the bleeding edge of new discoveries! As for how to make money with the site- I have no earthly idea. You need to talk to our buddy Mr. Tang about that.

Figure out some way to get it past my works internet filter should be your first priority!

Seriously, take it back 2 years! it's been on a slow slide for about 2 years. When I first joined it was the bomb, a ton of information and some major players participating from all over the world. Alot of those folks are gone and now there are several camps that are slowly playing out a survivor style soap opera. I still go there on a daily basis but it needs a breath of fresh air.

Similar to the Decostop. When I joined TDS years ago, most of the participants were hard core East Coasters who were doing some cool stuff and had formed that board to have a place to get together. Over time, the original group has faded away and now it's a glorified scubaboard. The discussions are not nearly as interesting as they were in the past and I would guess that 50% of the posts are gear "for sale" posts. TDS was formed as a place for tech divers to talk and was a genuine source for info for non or up and coming tech divers that's not what it's evolved to.

Keep it focused on its purpose. Growth for the sake of growth isn't necessarily a good thing. The people you most want involved on discussion forums are the first ones to leave when the signal-to-noise ratio gets too high ...

That's the trouble with every successful board - once you get past a certain size the quality drops off alarmingly as suddenly you find yourselves dealing daily with the "lowest common denominator".

I suspect that this particular ride will be...."interesting".

charge a small yearly fee, and you'll quickly see who's serious about being a member.

That's not a bad idea at all.
