Yeah, I am using it oc and I couldn't be happier with it. And if you ever need help with the unit, Bruce is a great guy to work with.

(Sitting on Alaska flight #619 waiting to push back from the gate)...

There are going to be a lot of used VR3's on the market soon... DEMA was great. The VR3 dealer school was enjoyable for me as well.

Howard - before you buy your unit, take an X1 for a spin. You'll be glad you did... Dan Warter is on the short list to try a loaner now too.

I would jump on the X1 hands down if the battery wasn't an issue. But when the battery dies, there goes the $1800. It's a lot of money for a throw away dive computer. Now if the company gave a life time battery replacement like uwatech does for there computers, then I wouldn't have a problem. I love everything about the X1. specially the V-planner. But ](*,) the battery thing is an issue. Or a design were we can replace the battery our selfves like the VR3.

Does not seem so bad to me. $400 is not cheap but hopefully it only needs to be done every 10 years.

"New Liquivision X1 Battery Policy!
The X1 now comes with a 3-year warranty on the battery, and after the warranty has expired, the X1 can be sent back to have the rechargeable battery replaced. Due to the absence of any O-rings in the X1, the battery change is complicated and costs more than 'traditional' computer battery changes. After the battery is changed, the X1 is then re-sealed through an elaborate process and pressure tested. The fee for a battery change after the warranty has expired is US$400.

To summarize:

If the battery fails during the first 3 years, the battery will be replaced free of charge (shipped to Liquivision at your cost).
If the battery fails after 3 years, the user can send the unit in for a battery change, and pay the fee.
The new policy applies to all existing customers as well as all new customers.
The design life of the battery is 10 years, and we are still highly confident that the vast majority of batteries will provide useful dive time for that length of time. "

ou

I thought they fixed that? Doug (I'm sure) will correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that the "no factory replaceable battery" issue was getting addressed? Something about how the guts are potted.

I got to see Doug's on a recent dive. Very cool screen, lots of features in a small package. As a recreational diver, out of my budget range though.

EDIT: Thanks Howard... Yes, please move the offending threads to the X1 thread. Sorry for the hijack.

Just landed in Seattle...

I'll share more on the X1 battery question when I'm not on my Blackberry and can write more easily. Interestingly enough, the next generation of the VR computer doesn't have a user-replaceable battery either. Seems there may be a trend there...

So much to share from DEMA... Stay tuned!!

I'm gonna leave these posts, because moving them is a PITA. While we ask that people don't hijack other people's "for sale" threads, the hijacks also keep bumping the post to the front of the "new posts" pack, so there is a benefit to the OP. But thanks for self- regulating, everyone.

I'll answer the X1 battery question in an X1 thread as not to clutter this "for sale" thread:
