You can back kick with any fin. However only a few fins will actually propel you backwards.

For some folks, perhaps ... it'd be interesting to see how long that outer "tail" would last under practical conditions. Any idea what they cost?

Those seem like a gimmick product to me. That little rubber connector in the middle looks fragile.
