Oh man. That is sad. Was she on here? Does anyone know her or her buddy? It was flat calm at Mukilteo on Sunday. Was it windy over in Jefferson Co.?

My sincerest condolences.

She made it all the way back up and then went down, for some reason that just seems to make it even worse.

Jauna was a fiend of my wife and I and will be sorely missed.
I can't give the full details of the accident yet but can surmise it that, as with most dive accidents, there seemed to be a culmination of events and little mistakes that added up to a major malfunction.
I'll let you guys know more when we can but our focus right now is on her buddy and helping him through the mess of why's.

Lynne!!!
I am so with you on feeling a bit of anger right now!
These things should not happen!!!
Not at all!!!
Air management is just like gas management in your car, in my opinion.
You just shouldn't run outta gas!
I am so sorry for this person, her dive buddy, her family and friends.
My condolences to all!!
Dive safe everyone!
K

could everyone please STOP being so damn angry and be a little respectful of the people who knew these poor souls, one of whom HAS POSTED IN THIS THREAD, and any others that may be reading?!?

yes, this is a tragedy that could have been avoided, but please, people, show some decorum.

Agreed, but remember this is coming on the heals of another fatality--I imagine Lynne is besides herself.

My thoughts and prayers to the deceased's family and friends.

my comment wasn't directed specifically at lynne, doug. many of us were affected by jake's death, and there are still plenty of raw nerves, but folks should put themselves in clackadiver's position and reread those posts. the general tone of this thread is devolving and needs to stop now, out of respect for others who have different raw nerves.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I don't think anyone here wants to jump to conclusions or point fingers or place blame. Right now there is still grief over the loss of BigFameOne and I think this loss is only grief on grief. Anger is a natural response given the situation, and it isn't a reflection on Jauna or her partner. I dearly want to never loose another buddy. My condolences to Jauna and her friends and family.

I'm not being disrespectful of the diver who died. I mourn her loss, more than is reasonable, considering I never met her. The people I am angry with are the people who trained her, because I think information that keeps people safe is not being taught, and apparently, at least in one agency, isn't being taught because the agency FORBIDS it.

Jake's death probably wasn't preventable. This one was.
for the second, and last, time: my comment wasn't directed specifically at you, but at the general tone of this thread.

but if you continue to spit venom in this thread, i will lock it. go start another thread about agency training in gas management if you need to get it out of your system.

OK, people: This thread is for the diver who just died, and the people affected by her unfortunate passing. Please maintain respect and decorum.

Rants, diatribes, and constructive thoughts regarding the curriculum of dive training agencies should go in THIS THREAD.

I'm simply beside myself for so many reasons. The senselessness of it, the reported issue being so near to my heart, and while there is never a time better than another for something of this nature, this is just way too soon.

I don't want to believe it. It is with a heavy heart that I include them in my prayers tonight.

My heartfelt condolences to the people who knew and loved her. Any time a diver dies, the community is dimished by the loss. We all grieve in our own way ... but we grieve together. It's part of the healing process.

May her soul find peace ... as may those she left behind.

... Bob (Grateful Diver)
