saturday and sunday club fun!

Post by kat »

first off wahoo :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen: :boucegreen:
only, the wahoo should be much bigger.

saturday we went out with penelopie. we saw tons of stuff! we saw a ling cod that i think was pretty big, a something that starts with c dorid (looked like a mini orange mohawk), what might have been a warbonnet(it was very small), a few bivalves, stars and anemones. we had a fabulous 23 minutes.
thank you for letting me borrow those turtles too. i was like a rocket!!

garret went out for a second dive and fell in love with the backplate wing setup.

we had a great time, thank you penelope and thank you all.

sunday garret and i went out in the morning, AND I SAW MY FIRST OCTOPUS! IT WAS ABOUT A FOOT ACROSS AND PURPLE! it was sitting in a lone tire just waiting for us surrounded by shrimp and a small fish. we also saw a big sea slug or cucumber, lots of stars and anemones again. we had a fabulous 17 minutes.

with my new fins (Beuchat i think) i wasn't too pooped afterward (i hate my triex) and i was able to go on a second dive :breakdance:

we went out with pez, matt? and two others. i am really terrible with names...he showed us pepper and we saw a flounder and a pile of guys relaxing on a swing, some bivalves, and lots of stars and anemones again. we had a fabulous 15 minutes.

thank you all for putting up with me, i still have lots to work on. like floating. and swimming with grace. and not breathing as much (or maybe a larger tank :ballandchain: )

thank you all for a wonderful time!

It was good to meet you, Kat, and Garret! You guys were doing pretty good. It takes time to get used to the idea of being horizontal and weightless but it'll come with time. :smt064 I was glad that you got to see pepper, and was pleased to see you monitoring your air as often as you were. The only one looking at your guage as much as you was me! You guys did a good job of following your plan. You didn't really miss much after you left us, except for a good sized octo out for a stroll near the tire stack. Other than that, it was just Scott, Matt and me screwing around and looking for critters.

Woohoo! I'm glad you finally saw an octo! Several octos, even!

The mowhawk critter was a cockerel's dorid:

Kat! Although I did not get a chance to talk to you, I did see you, as you were heading off for your first dive.
Glad you guys had a fun time. Hope you get up around this area more often. And ofcourse, if you two get a chance to be up here on a Thursday... You are more than welcome to join us! :thumb3d:

Thanks Penelope for taking care of the details on Saturday and thanks Pez for bringing the shirts and sways, thanks lowercasebob for the incredible BBQ setup and all the cooking both Sat and Sun, and a special thanks to Dusty2 for more information on how to find the elusive lumpsuckers. I now can join the PSL club. Every dive took us to the bottlefield in search of the little fellow, and then on the last dive on the way up, we'd givin up on ever seeing one, this cute little guy must have jumped out at me;

The pictures aren't great; a strobe will be a welcomed addition.

It was great to meet all those I feel I know from lurking on this site.

Thanks everyone who helped organize the weekend

Wow! Those PSL shots turned out really nice! When you showed them to us on your camera screen in the sunlight it was kinda hard to tell, but those are great! What an interesting array of colors on that little guy!

It was great seeing you folks again! Even though I didn't get in the water, I'm glad that I drove down to "meet and greet". I met some folks from the board for the first time and it's always good to have faces to place with names.

Wow, those SL shots *are* fantastic! Sorry I missed y'all on Saturday, it looks like a great time was had by all. Did you guys get some of Bob's brownies too? They were da bomb!

By the way, I wonder who will be the first to get a shot of an octo poking it's head out of a NWDC canteen? :80sdance:

Thanks John.
It was really fun trying to guess who's who from their posts.
Wet on land is just not the same as wet under the surface, but luckily the sun shone upon us on Sunday and made for a much warmer day.

Fun weekend.

Nice job on the PSL shots. I like the bottom one best. Great angle, really highlights the cute expression.

thanks for the dives on Sunday! I just went down to say hi...not sure I was going to dive, but since my car is always laden with gear ready to dive (yeah...good person to have next to you should a major flood strike I-5) I went in for a FUN DIVE. (that's instructor code for relaxing and not watching students eyeballs)

Then, relaxed over a cookie and talk of missile silo's and tech deep talk.

Really looking forward to the Expo now...sometimes I forget how ABSOLUTELY COOL Northwest divers really are...Sunday was a reminder.

Thanks for putting it together!!
