Thursday 8/6/09 Three Tree N.

Post by BASSMAN »

Meet @ 5:00 pm @ Three Tree N. on Thursday 8/6/09
1st dive, Splash @ 5:30pm
2nd dive, Splash @ 7:30 pm
3rd dive, Splash @ 9:30pm , if I can find another tank.
If we dive at 9:30 pm, we should remember not to be too loud. So we don't disturb the 3TN natives.
Anyone is welcome. :smt064

I want to go! This will give me enough time to sort out my gear.
Do I need to bring a buddy? (cause I don't have one :)

Also, are these directions adequate?

One last question, where's a good place to get nitrox in Seattle?

See you Thursday!

Well, there I've gone and done it, confused the thread. When do you want to go?

From now on this Thread will be about diving Thursday 8/6/09 and NOT NEXT Thursday 8/13. I'll start a different thread.

My apologies.

You're more than welcome to show up on Thursday......

Directions:
From I-5N or I-405, you need to follow highway 518 to the west. Go past the airport. After you get to Burien (where the freeway ends), continue straight through the lights. You will now be on 148th. Follow 148th until you come to Ambaum. Take a left at the light on Ambaum (now heading south) for a few blocks, then turn right at the light on 152 (now heading west). Follow 152nd for about a mile, then take a left on 21st. This road will curve all over the place, so pay attention. Follow 21st and it will eventually turn into Marine View Drive, which will then turn into SW 170th, then 33rd Ave SW, and finally Maplewild Drive after a big hairpin turn. Maplewild Drive was damaged in the recent earthquake, so you can only go one-way (southwest) where Maplewild and 33rd meet. About a half mile down Maplewild, you will see a small store on your right. Immediately after this store is 170th, where you want to turn right. If you go around the point, you have missed the turn-off. Once you turn onto 170th, go straight for a very short distance until you hit the beach

From the South:

I-5 to 188th exit. Turn left and continue past International (99) Blvd,
Though the tunnel (under the Runway),
turn on to hwy 509 N.
Take the very next exit 160th, turn left (Back over hwy 509)continue to about the 3rd stop light.
Turn left on Sylvester Rd. continue (Exactly 2 miles)untill the road becomes the front yard for about a dozen homes.
("You will know what I mean, when you see it")

Continue for 1 mile.. to the dive site

At end of the "Residential Strip" you will see a concrete barrier ,(this is Three Tree South) several "No Parking" stratigically placed signs, will not allow you to park here.

Well I am not sure I will be able to dive this week either. I was busy remodeling our hallway last week. This week family comes back from the Philippines at 1240pm so we might be doing something that afternoon. I should take this time to get the wrist seals replaced on my suit. ](*,)

One last question, where's a good place to get nitrox in Seattle?

See you Thursday!
Yep, that will work! That's the site!

Nitrox in Seattle? Depending on your exact location, there could be a few places to go. Underwater Sports in Seattle might work for you.
Depth at this Site can range anywhere from 90 feet to 30 feet. Second dive is more like a 60 or 70 foot max depth.
But average depth is around 50 feet.

Hope to see you there, Bring a good light!
Coming for two or Three dives?

Thanks for the info! I'm going to just stick with air for these dives, I think. I'll probably also just do two of them, do you think I should come for dives 1 and 2, or 2 and 3?

Also, if you don't mind I think I'll copy down your cell # in case I get lost!

Thanks!

I'd show up for 1 and 2 if you want to get a parking spot.

I'm planning on being there for the first two...so sad only two tanks... maybe I should have gone and gave all my money to the UWS folks at Divers fair and got a set of 119's. :questionmarks:

Oh well, at least I'll be able to break that elusive 50 dive barrier ](*,)

Had two great dives, viz 30-40', tons of ratfish, lots of various sculpins and GUNNELS ( Thank you April for getting it right; those were not greenlings, they were gunnels as Babs figured out later!)

Thanks April and Babs for being such great buddies and Bassman for your fabulous dive organizing skills! Will definitely be looking to see if I can make next Thursday's dive at Sunrise! :partydance:
