Oh, man. Yes, I do remember him. We talked about diving and sixgills for a long time. Really nice guy. I should point out that we don't know for 100% sure that this is the same guy; but it certainly appears to be. This sucks. My condolences to his friends and family.

This is terrible, and my thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved....

I found a few additional articles from local BC papers, but they don't say much more than the article Laura linked above, except to say that the accident happened at 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 7th, off the coast of Nigei Island. That definitely places it at or near Browning Pass.

Laura,
Thank you for posting this. Yes Andy is the same person who was at the dive expo. I met Andy for the first time at the dive expo but we have a mutual friend. Our mutual friend who Andy and I both encouraged to take SCUBA classes called me on Saturday afternoon to ask if I could find any information on Andy’s accident. My friend and dive buddy is a bit freaked out by the loss of one of the people that encouraged him to start diving and spent hours answering his many questions. I truly liked Andy when I met him and wish I had spent more time visiting.
My Condolences to his friends and family,

No new information about the accident itself, but a beautiful obituary for Andy....
