My experience is that even within the DIR crowd there are splits. Those who consider themselves the "true" DIR dudes. Those folks are probably also the ones who give the DIR crowd the rep that they have. My opinion is who the heck cares. Furthermore, if someone won't dive with you bcs your...

Don't screw around with the salt water diving at Akumal. It's OK, but take the ferry over to Cozumel and do a trip over there instead. most of the dive shops will pick you up at the ferry. the diving there is GREAT.

I think he said he lost it in the shallows near the walk in point.

Other than that, just a typical black D8R.

Thanks!

A buddy of mine lost a Black UK D8R dive light at Day Island Wall a week or two ago.

If anyone found one, let me know and I'll put you in contact with him.

Thanks!

West Point Sand Bar

Dive Site Name: West Point Sand Bar Current Sensitive: Yes: I would use Bush Point Location/Address: Large point between the Shilshoal marina, and the Elliot Bay marina. Directions: Boat Dive. If they have down in them, then they must loft to get any insulation... Down is great so long as it is dry and puffy. Otherwise is sucks!

this is hearsay as I have never even seen a weezle undergarment, but a down side that I have heard is that they trap air in the suit (due to bulk?). something to consider

I think 99% of the AOW classes are a waste of time. Sometimes you get a good instructor that actually teaches something "advanced" but rarely, at least in my wanderings. It is good for folks who are just getting into diving and want some more instructor led dives before going out on their ...

What time did you drop in? I cannot recall what direction the current moves on an ebb there. it may be in an eddy from Possession Point so an ebb might move move North. If you went in later, it is possible it had already changed given there was such a small flood. Some current sensitive sites like S...

I use the Admiralty inlet off bush point current station for slack. The current can really rush there so do time it to hit the slack and don't dive it on a major exchange. The surface swim is further than the Edmonds oil dock so beware of that as well. This Saturday my program shows the following at...

One could only speculate on the answers. Many years back I did the Lobstershop with a buddy of mine. We dove very differently back then and this is NOT a dive plan I would endorse, but is shows how screwy things can get at depth. He wanted to beat a personal depth record, I was not interested in goi...

I was thinking more that a smaller framed person might choose an HP 100 over an HP 130.

That is a big difference for someone who only weighs in at 110 pounds unlike my 200 pound frame.

And that is the crux of the issue. LP/HP is an arbitrary distinction for the most part. It's a rating on the tank. So get the tank size you want, and get it with the highest pressure rating you can. Heck, if my HP 130's (AKA LP 102's) could be rated to 4500, I would get the ones with the 4500 stamp....

I think there are three activities: 1. Boeing supply dock to the North of the Oil dock (done) 2. Rebuilding of the T dock (Done) 3. New ferry site and marina (been talking about it for some time and will probably happen soon). For #1, no real impact to the Oil dock or T dock. For #2, I found this on...

Looking for recommendation: Great White Charter in S Africa

I may find myself in Cape Town next September. I am looking to do a cage dive in Shark Alley. Has any one here done this, or know anyone who has?

I am looking for a reputable charter who does quality trips with smaller groups so that cage time can be maximized.

Thanks!

Yeah I agree Bob that deciding to shoot a bag or not is relative to the situation you are in. I'm pretty sure I would always shoot the bag though. The benefits of communication are huge. If the surface current was so strong that I was being yanked (I have experianced that more than once...), I would...
