Re: Sitka AK February trip who's in??
Fellow divers: I am sorry to say that I will not be participating in this years dives. I may be able to get in the water a couple of times while you're all here, but my activities will be limited. My sister has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of Inflamatory Breast Cancer. She lives in Atlanta...

Re: Ultraviolet Night Diving
I have never built a black light myself, but a buddy of mine built himself a black light in the early 90's to shoot macro with. They don't put out a ton of visible light and I think the shorter wavelengths get absorbed in the water column fairly quickly. Not sure if this helps, but I am guessing mac...

Wow Jan, You were fortunate enough to dive Kiska Island? It's on my to-dive-list... Did you get to shore to see the sub? A friend of mine has a photo of himself in the mini-Sub. Also, Tom Madsen ran Aluetian Air and flew out there for a survey in the early 80's. It's hard to beleave how much hardwar...

Re: The Bottle Thread
Dave, I haven't found anything with embossing from Alaska. I imagine there were would be very few in Southeast as most of our commodities were brought up from Seattle. And still are in fact... A few divers in the area have found Russian bottles. Those I'm told are very rare and almost impossible to ...

Alaska-Herb made the front page
Our very modest friend Herb, who is also a Public Safety Diver has made the front page of the local news paper. I'm told the victim is stable and recovering well.

Re: Lovely little octo babies!
I hope your boss is advertising this or at least letting the local schools know about it. I have never seen an octopus hatchling and I've been diving for 31 years. This would be a wonderful event to share with the public. Thanks for letting us know about the babies. Second edit --- Why is typing in ...

I tend to find a lot of ink and medicine bottles in our channel. One of my favorite things to find are the Medical Department, USN bottles. I have a couple in various sizes that I have sent to my mom to display in her house..... http://i1229.photobucket.com/albums/ee468/sitkadiver/General%20Diving%2...

Re: Batteries 18650
I've been using an 18650 powered H2O Doc light for a couple years now(maybe 3 yrs. ???) and I have nad no safety issues at all with the 18650's. The only time I had one smoke is when I went at a dead cell with some channel locks to see what made it tick.... Definately not the batteries fault. The 18...

Re: New Broco cutter
actually it only takes a 12 volt battery to start the flame and then no power is required. It is a pretty cool toy and one that Dave plans on using to make the Prop from the Rush arrive into his front yard. So Dave N you better talk to Dave S about borrowing it before he gets the wheel that you hav...

Why not give Dave a ring? He has a Broco and cutting rods. You could probably borrow it if he's out cuc diving.
