Octo - Just Curious

I was going through some albums and came across this guy. I know octos can change their texture, but I have several shots of this fella and he is smooth in everyone. Has anyone seen this smooth texture on a small octo? Thanks.

I'm no expert, but I believe the red octopus has a smooth texture, while the GPO has a rough texture to its skin.

At that stage it could be either. The red is a more likely choice.

Dusty 2, thanks. I thought it was a red but it just looked really smooth. Usually I don't see them stay that smooth for 5-10 shots.

do yall normally see the octo's change different colors? Night diving yesterday i saw 2 and followed one, he changed colors and turned into a "stone" hard as a rock too! i mostly observed until he looked to mimic a rock, and i had to poke him...sure enough hard like he had bones.

I see them change colors all the time to try to camouflage, but I've never poked one and had it feel like stone. Weird.
