Kernel......Stack.....Inpage......Error.

Post by cardiver »

Help! I have an HP laptop that is running Windowa XP and for the past couple of weeks I have been getting this blue screen message 2-3 times a day. When I reboot everything works fine but I lose all saved passwords on websites.
Anyone have any ideas (short of getting a Mac) to fix this?

Thanks!

Did a quick search, this is what came up, looks like a good start.

Is there an error code displayed? If so that would help in your search. Whether or not going to the HP and MS sites for a search could be helpful.

Could be a hardware malfunction? If you have a way to verify hardware condition that would be a good thing to do? Before I did a wipe and reinstall I'd make sure the hardware is OK.

Another possibility is Malware. If you are able to run an anti-malware program from an external source that would be good.

Been awhile since I've played techie, as other posts will show, but if memory serves and you have accurately shown the error the kinds of errors you are showing can be hardware as well as software or intruder. It is a pain but I don't know any way to isolate the problem without doing the step by step analysis.
The only box you have to think outside of is the one you build around yourself.

from what i gathered from microsoft's website, it's either virus or bad hdd. if u dont have an antivirus program, install microsoft's security essentials and scan your drive for viruses. if none, then probably hdd.

I've been running MSS for about a year now.
