With all of this warm weather has anyone noticed warmer water to go along with the bad vis?

Yes, I was very surprised yesterday. On the way up, there was a clear thermocline at 35' and another at 7'. I'll download the profile and check what those were exactly. And we are just in June! Hood canal will be in big trouble this summer if we don't get some storms and clouds soon... (unlikely)

Re: Viz Reports Thread
AM on 6/24, Cove 2 was probably 10 in the shallows, but a nice 15-20 deeper than 20' on a smaller incoming tide. It was somewhat better earlier in the week.

Re: Viz Reports Thread
Fri 3rd, Sat 4th dove in Kilsut Harbor, big mud flats, ribbon kelp and about 30" viz.
Sun 5th dove Point Whitney, started about 15-20' south of the junkyard and by the time we hit the pipeline it was 10'~. The water temp in the shallows was a balmy 70*!
Weds 8th, Redondo, 35'+ in the bottle field at 91'. Could see either side of the bowl, pretty incredible. Viz def tightened up on the way out the short line, but probably only 15-20' at the worst.

What time were you there? We were there at 9:30 AM (at extreme low tide--yuk!) and had 10-15 ft in the shallows and 20-25 ft at depth. Big difference!Jeremy Axworthy wrote:Mon. July 13, Three Tree: 1-2ft viz in the first ten feet, 10-15 below that.

Cove 2, Friday 0700. About 5-8' in the shallows for incoming tide, then opened up nicely to be able to see the entire Honey Bear. Very nice this morning.

Redondo, Thursday, Aug 06 - went for a dive around 5 PM. Vis from the surface all the way down to about 85 fsw was in the 4 to 5 foot range, with large, brown "snowflakes" in the water. Turned around when I realized I couldn't even find the carousel boat (and it's HARD to miss).

Geez, I was just getting the camera prepped to get back into the water this week when I read this, Bob. Guess having the wide angle setup on it from Lake Crescent is something I'll have to change, or just leave it at home altogether!

Ain't this just the plankton bloom year from hell?
Did Muk. Lighthouse on Sat. Couldn't see your fins standing up. 4 of us agreed to stick really close together going out and still lost one guy on the way taking it slow and easy. Did clear up to ~ 20 below 30.
