Nice video
Back in the day before scooters we used to swim diagonally across the pass.
Much easier and safer to do it today with scooters. There was always the chance that you would get blown out into the Sound which made for a very long swim to shore.
If you have a boat it is nice to dive it on an incoming tide you get to go further into to the pass.

yeah the consequences of even a slight miscalculation on an ebb are dire. Much better off on an incoming tide.
