It would appear that Redondo didn't get the memo about viz improving. Kathy and I went there this afternoon, 6-2-09, and viz was 3-5 feet down to about 55 fsw. Below that it opened up to maybe 10, but barely. It was that way all the way down to the carousel boat.

Well you said you would post it, and you did! =D>

Maybe you shouldn't be driving such a small and expensive car to the dive site. If you still had your Dive rig, I would have seen that. I was just using your car as a curb feeler. But in all honesty, I deserve a good :stickwhack: But Ron is less :blackblink: :angryfire:
when there is no damage to his vehicle. Too bad for Ron, because he really wants his hood repainted. Next time I'll try to build up a little speed before I :driving: in to your car. :neener:
Just thinking about how to make your day a little more exciting Ron!

Thanks Ron for not :violent1: me too much.

I 'll buy you a :mmmbeer: some time and then all will be back in balance. Right? :smt064

Oh and yes, the vis was "THAT BAD" 6 inches to 10 feet at best

Funny, it looked like two feet for me all the way down, but that may have been due to the air from the freeflowing regulator stowed on the sling bottle, coupled with your scooter wake. :)

Seriously, I thought it was pretty darn good once you got deeper than 10'. I've clearly been in the PNW too long.

I did Possesion Point and Hat Island Barges with Chad today. Viz sucked big time at the ferry. Hat Island was about 10 feet below 60 fsw. Took my son Nick to KVI for a night dive tonight. Viz was 20 - 25 below 60 fsw. Tons of Ratfish and some Lings with battle scars from the poor aim of divers. Did not take the gun down, but did shoot some video.
Life can be short and dives even shorter. Time off work will put it all in perspective.

Are you ever going to get that boat out on a Thursday, Scott?

I had a great view of the visibility off Posession Point...from the boat. That'll teach me to leave my drysuit in Spokane. Did dive a backup shell at KVI, minor issues but I made it back to the boat under my own power. SUCCESS!! Thanks to Chad and Dad(scubascott) for the great day.

Saturday, my "Little Hawaii" at Three Tree didn't open up until about 40'...then it had 10 - 15 ft. Cancelled OW dives...as showing 2' of viz doesn't really invoke the addiction. Yuck.

Was hoping someone would give miraculous reports somewhere else...

It's a good thing the Sound is here all 365 days per year. They'll be back another weekend....

At Pt. Whitney / Shellfish lab maybe 10’ of visibility at extreme low tide this morning. The students couldn’t swim far enough out the pipeline to get bellow 30’. Visibility was a little better maybe 15’ after the tide turned and started to flood.

Wondering the same thing myself. First dive Thursday the 11th viz above 30 fsw was 2 or 3 very murky, yucky feet at a very low tide. Down below it - I hesitate to say this - "opened up" to about 10 feet. "Opened up" is in quotes because it was a nasty 10' of viz. I suppose after a few years diving in the PNW you learn that not all 10 - 15 viz is alike. Sounds weird, but I think it's true. 2nd dive it opened up a bit more, but still so much schmutz and murk and yuk that.... well, you get the picture. Or rather you DON'T get the picture because it wasn't worth taking many because they wouldn't turn out! :banghead:

Yes, I know, any day in the water is better than a day on land, yada yada yada. I think that too. I think. But it sure has been easy to whine about for me here lately.

I feel like such a

OK, this depressing bout of kvetching brought to you by PNW algae and is now done. Till next time...

Tom, I agree with you 100%. And your observation that 10 foot viz has variations to it is also right on.

Cove 2 yesterday was pretty nice, viz in the 20-25 foot range. There were lots of "snot" clumps in the water but it was easy enough to look around them. Redondo today, on the other hand, was around 10' below 35 fsw; above that it was still pretty awful. Redondo still hasn't gotten the "viz is improving" memo...
