Octopus Hole Sunday 3/20/2011

Post by Gdog »

Tried to dive Sund Rock today, lot was packed to overflow with 2 classes. Opted to check out Octopus Hole as it has been a while. Only 2 vehicles, with one leaving. Current was unusually strong for the canal, middle of incoming tide on large exchange. Vis was very poor down to about 35 fsw, or about 1/2 way down the wall. Once under it, visibility opened up very nicely to approx 20 fsw or more. 2 Octo's under rocks at bottom of wall, 1 Red Octo in crack part way up wall. Very nice dive, except the trip back to the entry against the current felt like we were diving Titlow beach instead of the canal!

We were diving at Mikes on Sunday conditions were awful! Worst I have ever witnessed on the canal! It did open up below about 40 feet, but still yuck! And it was 46 degrees! Brrrr.
On saturday I did witness an Octopus steal a nest of Ling Cod eggs! The Ling was not very happy! But that was really cool!
SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES..... THEY ARE NOT REALLY GOOD FOR ANYTHING ... BUT THEY STILL BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN YOU PUSH THEM DOWN A FLIGHT OF STAIRS
